The side effects that can sometimes occur are linked to bleeding from the biopsied area. A hematoma may form.
It may therefore be necessary to organize surveillance for a few hours in the Henri Becquerel Center's outpatient surgery unit, after the procedure.
If you notice a complication when you return home, you must contact the emergency telephone number given to you with your discharge letter.
Biopsy results are forwarded to the physician who ordered the examination, although samples taken by radiologists are usually sent for analysis by pathologists.
Analysis of tissues or cells taken by pathologists can extend the time needed to obtain results.
