PET-SCAN with FDG

PET, also known as positron emission tomography or PET SCAN, is a medical imaging test that visualizes glucose uptake in organs. This is functional imaging. This technique is coupled with a CT scanner to improve image quality and obtain precise localization of glucose uptake anomalies.

To achieve this, it is necessary to inject a radio-active product called Fluor18, coupled to a glucose analog molecule called 18F-FDG (fluor18 coupled to fluoro deoxy-glucose).

The 18F-FDG PET scan is used to diagnose many cancers, infectious or inflammatory diseases, as well as to evaluate the efficacy of certain treatments (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc.).

You'll need to allow between 2 and 2.5 hours for an FDG PET scan.
